This is the hunting farm house that they stayed in. It is over one hundred years old. They left Thursday morning at 5:00 a.m and came back Saturday afternoon.
The guy in the suspenders is Bruin Cordingly. The man with the beard is Bill from Alabama. Just chatting when they first got to the camp before the hunt.
This is Tanner shooting one of many prairie dogs.
He must have got a good one from the looks of that smile!
One of the prairie dog's many "homes."
He lost count how many he shot, but loved every minute of it.
Should I be worried that my sons gets such a kick out of killing small defenseless animals? Check out the smile on this boy. I wonder if I could photo shop this face onto our most recent family picture where is face looks like a mug shot. I guess I know what to do next time I want a family picture...let him kill something first!
In the evening about 5:00 p.m. they would get in a tree stand or a tripod and wait...for a Bambi to come strolling by. The first night, Tanner shot one, but he hit it too low and didn't kill it. They spent nearly an hour looking for it, but the blood trail just stopped.
So on Friday evening Tanner sat in a tripod and waited. About 30-45 minutes later two white tailed does came strolling by. He let the first one pass by then a second one was trotting a little and he made the shot with his bow. The doe was about 30 yards away. He made a perfect double lung shot. This was his first bow kill! He says the adrenaline rush of killing with a bow is awesome!

Tanner said this experience was a blast and definitely worth the six hour drive. This says something for a kid who doesn't even like the drive to Idaho Falls.
Layne talked to Ty after they got back and Ty said that the Cordingly's were very impressed with what a good kid Tanner is. They said he should come again next year and bring his dad. So that makes Layne happy and makes us proud as parents that Tanner is so well liked by so many people.
