Sargent Spider Party

When Karlee heard it was time for the annual Sargent Spider party she squealed! It is always lots of fun, and LarRene and her kids put lots of thought and effort into pulling it off every year.
I had to giggle when I saw Rachel's daughter, Carolina, getting a drink from the rain spout.

Her cousin, Naomi, thought that looked pretty cool, and wanted to try it to, but unfortunately her dad, Kent, was too close by and put a stop to that.

Lunch was Egg Sack Soup (aka chili served over Doritos in the "sack") Then dessert was yummy cheese cake spider webs and spiders made from sandwich cookies with licorice legs.

After lunch LarRene asked about all the spiders each child had brought in a bottle for the table decorations and what they were and where they found them. Then she talked about some of the other "spiders" in our lives that we need to be aware of and to stay away from like temptations to make wrong choices. Then Sara told the story of Charlotte's web and how Charlotte saved Wilber's life by being a good friend. She encouraged all the kids to be that kind of friend and to always be there for the underdog.

Then it was time for the treasure hunt. They were divided into three groups by age. Sara took the little kids and they followed picture clues.

Kent took the middle group and they followed clues all over the neighborhood.

Stevan took the big kids and they all had their bikes to follow the clues throughout the neighborhood also.
When each group found their treasure it was full of fun spider treats and toys and a green spider cup.
Here is Sara, Rachel, Carolina, LarRene and Olivia relaxing after all the fun and running was done. Little did we know the secret Sara was keeping that day....twins!?!?!

Ruth supervised the spider ring toss game.

Leah supervised pin the spider on the web game. Here is Karlee taking her turn. We sure appreciate the Sargents including us in their fun and all the hard work that goes in to pulling it off.
