Family Home Evening Canning

We had a great experience for Family Home Evening last night. The kid’s great-grandparents, Elmer and Merlene Park, have a set-up in their garage for canning food storage. They had 20,000 cans donated and got the use of a high speed can sealer. So we took the opportunity to get 400 pounds each of flour and sugar. We did almost three hundred cans. They really have the system perfected and we did that in only about 45 minutes. There were other people from their ward that were doing it also, so we all chipped in together to help everyone get it done. The kids were a great help and everyone had their own job to do. Layne kept the bins full of product. I filled the cans and as you can see I always get into my work. You should see me when I paint! Karlee put the oxygen packet in and put the lid on top. Then Zak kept feeding the cans to the kid running the sealing machine. Tanner got the finished product boxed and loaded them in the truck. It was a great experience and we sure are grateful to Elmer and Merlene for making it available for us and for the love and generosity they share with us
