Harvest Fest And Youth Conference

Every year the ward puts on a fall spud harvest dinner.  This year the young men and young women were in charge or carnival games.  We had face painting, a ring toss, a cake walk and a fishing pond.  All the kids were good sports and we all had a lot of fun.

In October our youth went to Salt Lake City for youth conference.   We left after school on Friday and stopped at Wendy's for dinner.  

Then we went to Ensign Peak and hiked it in the dark.  We didn't really know what we were getting into.  We had some girls in flip flops, and one girl in a walking cast.  But everyone worked together and made it to the top.  One of the boys even carried his deacon brother  who has some physical challenges, to the top on his back.  Once we got there the view was definitely worth the effort.

That night we returned to the hotel and had about an hour to swim before the pool closed.  All of the kids were so well behaved.  They got out when asked and were quiet and respectful in the hotel.  We received compliment on how well they behaved from hotel management the next day.  We are lucky to have such a great group of kids.

The next day we divided into groups of six and toured Temple Square and surrounding attractions.  We had two exchange students in our group from Germany and Thailand.  It was a great experience to experience these things through their eyes.

At the Beehive house there was a sister missionary from Thailand.  So our exchange student was excited to see her and they were thrilled to speak to each other in their native language.  They also gave Book of Mormons to the girls in their native languages.

We finished up our day at the Church museum.  The kids got involved in all kids of interactive activities.

The last stop was at Golden Corral were everyone ate their fill before the ride home.  I was amazed by this three story birdhouse in the yard next door before we left.  Pretty cool!
