Grandpa Romrell's 91st Birthday

On June 15th my dad turned 91 years old.  About a month before he decided he was tired of shaving and he has since grown quite a nice beard.  He has never grown one before.  During the war he grew a handle bar mustache.  But he has never had a beard.  His neck is getting so curved and bent forward that it makes it really hard for him to even look up in the mirror in order to shave.  So I bought an electric razor and try to keep it trimmed up for him.  He gets a lot of compliments on it and I think he is having fun with it.

Dad is still determined to mow his own lawn.  One day he forgot to wear his hat while he was mowing under the pine trees.  One of the branches reached out and bit him, to give him a reminder of why he should wear his hat!

The week before his birthday all of my siblings got together at Karleen's house to celebrate Dad's birthday.  This has become a semi-annual tradition since my mom's birthday is in December.  It gives us a great opportunity to get together as siblings and spouses and catch up on every one's families.

This year Maynard barbecued pork ribs for us for dinner.  They were delicious!   I feel very blessed to have a family that is so supportive of each other and so willing to all pitch in to take care of our parents.  None of us could do it alone.
