Harvest Break

We are in the middle of another harvest break. Karlee's cousin Mackay came and spent last week with her. It is our trade off for her spending a week with him at Green Canyon during the summer for swimming lessons. They had a lot of fun playing and in this picture they were experimenting with possible Halloween make-up. They got spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa Terry taking them out to eat several times. And they pretty much had the run of the house since Zak and Tanner were working in the potatoes and Layne and I were at work.

Last weekend Layne got busy and built this doghouse so Bo and Crash will have a warm place to go during the winter and still won't have access to the shop or garage to make a mess. Zak was off on Friday and part of Saturday because of the weather. So he was "thrilled" to be in this picture as you can tell.

How can I resist saying that Layne is in the doghouse! But really he did a great job. He made it so we can get into it from the top if we need to clean it out. And he put blue board insulation under the floor and plans to put more around it but the supply store only had one sheet. We even put some leftover carpet that we had inside.

The dogs love their new home and even Karlee thinks it is a pretty cool hideout. It is so nice to have them sleeping away from the house. Normally their doghouse has been out on the deck which is right outside our bedroom. Every time they heard anything they would start barking and when they were ready to be fed they would start scratching at the door. Now they are so cozy in their little cubby that I have to go out and call them to come and eat in the morning.
