Crash Lives up to his name

Last weekend we went camping out to Sawmill. We didn't leave until I got home from work. Layne had just gotten off a night shift the day before and wasn't sure he would be up to going. But at the last minute he decided we should go for it. We loaded the dogs in the back of the truck and as we were driving Tanner said we should probably tie them down so the don't jump out. I said that they would learn their lesson if they tried that. I hate it when kids are right. We were driving down the Salem Highway with our train of truck, trailer and bike trailer when Tanner looked in the rear view mirror and saw Crash flying out and then we heard the thud. We pulled the train over as quickly as we could and Tanner jumped out and ran back to get him. He was wandering in the road, stunned and not sure where to go. Luckily the first car that came to him stopped and put on their hazard lights so that no one would hit him. Another car came around just as Tanner was getting to them and said, "You need to get your dog out of the road!" Duhh.... The poor dog's feet were bloody and he back paw was hurt pretty badly. A guy that Layne works with stopped and Tanner loaded Crash into his pickup and drove up to our pickup. It was quite a workout for Tanner to transfer the hundred pound dog several times from truck to truck.

We decided he would probably live and kept going for our camping trip. He didn't move around much all weekend. But each day he got a little better. We fed him some Advil every day and that seemed to help. He still isn't 100% and isn't playing full force with Bo as much as he would like. And just in case he hasn't learned his lesson, we have learned ours. The dogs will be tied down in the truck from now on.
