Zak is on the far left with the innertube around his belly
Last night Zak was a contestant for Mr. SouthFremont. This is a gag on the Junior Miss contest, and is really a money maker for the senior class so they can go play at the end of the year. The boys have been practicing for a month getting their dance routines down. They all did a great job. It is hard for me to believe that the same Zak that hates to give a talk in church or even bless the sacrament because he hates being in front of people was on that stage dancing and flirting with the audience like he was a chip n' dale dancer. As much as he is glad it is over he is also kind of bummed that it is over because they had so much fun. This group of boys are good kids and I'm glad that in this instance peer pressure comes in the form of making a fool of yourself on stage rather than doing something stupid like smoking or drinking out behind the school.
Zak looked so handsome in his new black pinstripe suit that he just had to have for this contest, since the tux I bought last year wouldn't work. I only relented because he will be able to use it for his mission. His friend Russ hurt his ankle playing basketball on the day of the show. At first he wasn't going to perform but decided at the last minute to go on the with show, even with his crutches. And he did a great job. He filled out his bikini top in the swimsuit competition very nicely. Then as a part of the skit for his talent had his stomach hair waxed. What a man!
They had all the regular events like swimsuit, fitness, and poise. Of course the boys had to ham it up for each category. Zak wore a tight girls tank top and tight swim shorts with an inflatable tube around his belly for the swimsuit competition. For the fitness competition he wore bright orange shorts with a figure hugging top and safety glasses.
For the talent portion Zak and his friend, Brian Rhodehouse did a skit about why "fat boys" aren't in the Olympics. Zak jumped in a kiddy pool and scooted it across the stage. Brian got on a 2X4 to walk across like a balance beam and it snapped in half. Then they acted out figure skating and ended the skit with Zak running and jumping toward Brian for a lift and they both ended up on the floor.
The whole night was full of laughs and was a lot of fun to watch. Every boy got a prize from the dollar store. They had 4 year old girls pass out the prizes. Zak won in the fitness category. Russ was Mr. Congeniality. Zack Wilson won talent and Mr. S.F. He played the same song on the piano as Ashley Siddoway played to win Junior Miss this year. So even though most of the talents were a joke he actually wowed everyone with a real talent, but he hammed it up too just to keep things even. Reg Angel also won for talent. He rode his BMX bike around the auditorium and ended with a run up a ramp and a back flip onto the stage that he actually landed after everyone gave a huge sigh of relief.
So we have one senior activity down and about a half dozen to go. I sure hope we survive May.
