Jared Schiers and Shad WilliamsOn Saturday August 29th Tanner started his Eagle Project. He chose to repaint the picnic tables that are in the shelter for the city park. This turned out to be a bigger job than he anticipated. Luckily he had some good help from is Dad, his scoutmaster Brent Williams, and his friends, Shad Williams, Derek Forbush and Jared Sheirs.
They got two of the four tables done after six hours. They had to disassemble the tables then sand down the boards. Then they spray painted the table legs and painted the boards. Then they had to put them all back together. But the bolts were all really rusty and didn't want to go back in very well. So it took a lot of lube and the persuasion of the drill to get the job done. But I think they have it figured out now so hopefully the next two tables won't take as long.
Mom made cookies for the workers and kept the water coming. After a run to town for paint and more sandpaper I brought home some chicken from Albertsons to keep the crew working. I'm sure they had no idea they would be putting in that much time. It was really nice of them to help and we will have to make sure and help them when the time comes. Our ward has 13 Life Scouts that are on the verge of getting their Eagle Awards. We are hoping to have one big Court of Honor for all of them.
We are really proud of Tanner for getting his Eagle while he is still 14. It is a great accomplishment and we will all be glad to have it done.
Good for him! It really does become a family effort. Make sure we get invited to the Court of Honor.
